It never fails, things always seem to click when I am unable to do a full
effort. Inspired by fellow TCGer (WA6KUI's) Top Score in 20M LP in last year's
WPX and meeting fellow Contesters at Dayton (Yes, I admit it; I was a Dayton
virgin) I decided to give it a go. Main problem was that I had to work
Saturday AM (presentation for Vanderbilt's Alumni Weekend) and go to my
nephew's wedding in Massachusetts on Sunday, but this is a CONTEST!!
Contest sure started out well. It may have been my best Low Power hour rate
ever (97). Band seemed in good shape but didn't stay open as long as it did
last year at W9UP (that tribander at 135' and KW may have had something to do
with that). Saturday was slow until late afternoon, as expected. Nothing on
Sunday as I had to catch an early flight to make the 3:00 PM wedding.
Even for a part time effort (abt 14 hrs), it was FUN!!! Summary/breakdown
