Comments:
Great contest... Bands were pretty good at night, pretty slim during the
day though. 10m FINALLY opened to EU! We were on 15 running, so didn't
see a reason to go to 10 (like it was gonna be open, yeah, right) then
after all the QSY requests we finally gave in, and low and behold, I8NHJ is
there on 28050 calling us, and is loud. Tune around, and lots of sigs...
all loud. ZS6Z is s9 for 4 hours or something like that... amazing. Hear
EL2AB, of course, can't work him. Oh well, find a clear spot, CQ. Get
an answer immediately. Finish the Q.. "TU KL7G" and it was chaos. Wall to
wall EU pile up. I love it! However, it was short lived, lasted about 20
mins. The pile went from great sigs, to barely audible. Lots of, "TNX FOR
LAST ZONE 5BWAZ 73 QSL SURE TU TU TU..." Go back to 15 after working
everyone on 10, and get another pile up (being in AK is great, isn't it?)
Kept checking 10, and always ZS6Z running them, and a few big guns still
on, but not much else. The band kept shifting around, and in and out. I
think we were an hour or two too late for the bulk of the opening. :(
It was my first time working EU on 10, so I am hoping it opens up again
soon.
I think I will stick with using WL or CT for contests though... TR is kinda
funky. (Sri Tree) :)
Thanks for all the Q's, and some of the ops in EU are amazing. They could
copy our QTC's thru everything.
Thanks to Del, KL7HF for going M/S this year, and to his Wife Jan, for
making me stop eating junk food. :)
It was a blast, just wish 10 was open better, and 40 was open this time of
year.
