Comments:

30 minutes before the contest, I hadn't even decided which category I was going
to compete in.I usually do 15m low power when I am not in zone 8.Earlier in the
day,I had called Bruce,wa7bnm and asked him if he was going to do another SOAB
LP as he has done the last 5 years. He said yes so I knew I would have stiff
competition if I entered that class. We have had some great battles in the past.

I was running JA's before the contest on 10 meters and it was kinda fun,so I
decided to do 10m single band low power.I spent the first two and a half hours
on 10m until it started to close.Since I had nothing better to do,I went to 15
and then 20m to pass the time. Then I spent the next 5 hours on 40 and 80m.I was
having so much fun, that I decided to change to SOAB LP.This was ok except I had
missed alot of mults on 15 and 20m earlier that may be hard to make up.

When I went to bed saturday night,I was only 50k away from the 6-land record
which Bruce set in 1998. This really got me excited and gave me the motivation
to go full blast on sunday.

Sunday was still real busy ! at least from the west coast with low power :)

I tried running many times during the contest, but only made about 300 q's that
way and the other 1000 were S and P.

My final score was about 600k more than the old 6-land record and more than
400k more than the zone 3 record.I am very happy with the results even though
wa7bnm and others may have a better score than me.

Conditions were the best I have ever seen in my short 8 year contesting
life. This contest was a blast.I can't wait til the cw weekend to try this
again.

Thanks and 73,Larry k6ro
