Comments:

I was not able to get started until 0Z the first evening. Then just one hour
until having to go to a company Christmas party. Gone 4 hours during
primetime. Then Murphy came by. The laptop crashed 3 times, then the Beverage
switchbox blew a fuse. Spent 4 hours til 0900 using the transmit vertical to
receive with (ugh). 200 Qs in the log.

Went home and went to bed knowing I would have to work on the RX antenna system
in the daylight. Got up at 1600Z and after about 4 hours of sleuthing found
the buried 1/2" hardline was shorted about 250 feet from the switchbox. Worked
a bandaid by replacing the shorted piece with RG-59 laid on the ground.

Conditions were not good the 2nd night. All signals were very weak. Worked
every mult I heard. WAStates and missed WASections by 5 (NLI, MAR, NL, NWT &
PR). Highlight was being called by W1DEO for ME and NL7Z for AK. No VKs
heard. Worked 5 JAs but it was rough w/repeats.

Califonia stations are normally the quantity mainstay from here but they were
in short supply. All in all, not bad for an abbreviated 16 hour outing from
Southeast AZ at the height of the sunspot cycle. Thanks to all for the Qs, and
apologies to those I could not copy. 73 de Milt, N5IA, op at N7GP
