Lot's of excitement for the WPX SSB Contest in the MS during the Easter
Weekend in Aruba .
After much deliberation the P40V Team consisting of Carl (P49V/AI6V) and
Mark (KI7WX) went head to head against the P41P Team consisting of Jacky
(P43P), Randy (P43W) and Roderick (P43R); both stations operating in the
Multi Single Category.
Even though everyone else was at the beach during the long weekend, both
P40V and P41P were slugging it out against each other on the air. At the end
of the WPX contest, the P41P Team came out slightly ahead, by 2M points, to
beat the P40V Team with a new claimed world record of 45.7M points, both
teams blowing the old record to pieces, but only team one emerging as
overall winner.
The final tally for the P41P team were as follows:
8675 Q's
1351 Prefixes
45,7M Points
Final numbers may vary a little, since we had a computer glitch and are
still merging the logs. Final postings and story should follow shortly.
Propagation was excellent over the weekend and spirits are high that the
P41P score will hold up as the new Multi Single record for this year.
