Cut my run in JEF short to make sure N6MU got TAY for the sweep. The band was so
unpredictable that I didn't want to chance a propogation problem with him.
Didn't get to run WAK or FRA as I had hoped on the 2nd day....it was worth it to
give N6MU the sweep. Bands we great on Saturday and so-so on Sunday. Had a
ball....sure missed N4DXC and W4EAK (both SK since the last FQP) and their
company and the use of DXC's motorhome....it made a big difference in my score
not having a driver and a cook. I was by myself....no driver....so I had to stop
on the side of the road for 99% of the Q's.....had 2 state troopers and 1 deputy
sheriff (TAY/MAD line) blue light me while I was stopped on the shoulder of the
road.....no problem after they found out what I was doing. Thanks to Clear
Channel Radio for the use of the 2002 Blazer! Thanks to K4JAF for the use of the
Icom 706. Although it didn't have the CW filters, I was able to survive. Best
QSO was HA1AG on 40 SSB SPLIT in Jackson County on Saturday night. We arranged
the split freqs on CW then I retuned the 40 meter ant for SSB and made the
contact on the first try! Congrats to K1TO/N4TO aka "Team Toad" on a GREAT
score...back to the drawing board for me and my /M set up!
