Comments:

Ran 90 mw on phone and 45 mw on cw. The 45 mw is the lowest power I have ever
attempted contacts with, and some stations came back on the first call. Most
didn't. Many didn't come back period, even though they were S9 or better.
Worked 29 states and all continents, which amazed me. Rig was my ancient Ten
Tec Argonaut with an Oak Hills Research QRP wattmeter in the 100 mw scale for
accurate power readings. Antenna was 3 el monobander. My main occupation this
weekend was the first ever meteor contest which occured at the heigth of the
Geminids shower. The shower rose at about 6 PM local time and set around 10AM
local time. I stayed up all night the first night and until midnight the
second. Running 800 watts on 144 MHz, my Q-rate was much worse (28 contacts in
18 hours) compared to running under 100 mw on ten meters!
Need to work 10 more states to complete my "under 100 mw" WAS. DXCC next?
Happy Holidays. Doug DM78 near Pikes Peak CO
