Comments:

Local thunderstorms Friday at the start, but lucky they didn't get close enough
to shut me down. The forecast thunderstorms for Sat never showed up, but it was
hot & sunny, allowing full time shorts & t-shirt, and the obligatory cool
ones.

15 M was a total bust here, only 71 JA's and 36 EU's.
EU signals appeared here very late in the morning just before the band closed.
Managed to S&P the ones that were heard, lot's of cq's but no running
possible.

Great short openings to EU on 20 M in the evenings. Best fun was Sat nite right
up till the amp popped and went dead, qsy'd station 2 to the freq (14.004, which
is a novel idea here) and finished off the opening. It was totally dead quiet
here, still lots of weak stations that couldn't get in the log.
Don't know why the amp died (likely just contest'itis), replaced the blown 20A
fuse in the power supply with a 15A fuse (the only thing I had)later during a
break and it ran till the end of the contest. Gotta love that! Thought it was
going to be a SO1.5R second day.

Something went out in the 40M 4Sq switch box Sat nite and it was completely
silent. The TH7 position relays in my Six Pack went intermittent several times,
and I had to run outside and smack it to get station 2 to the antenna several
times.

Good JA openings on 40, just real short and not much volume.

Fun to work a few JA's on 80 M Sun morning when the 40 M rate fell on the
floor.

Ended up taking lots of breaks when things were dead (which means not much
sleep), and more time off than planned, due to the horrid condx Sunday. Decided
to go watch the Indy 500 instead of sitting there working nothing. The rates for
the last 5 hrs of the contest were 25 or less.

Found myself frequently asking "what the heck am I doing this for", but it
usually never helps to quit. Glad I stuck around for an almost full effort.

Most frustrating non-qso: LZ3UA, a new mult, gets my exchange right after many
tries, but can't copy my confirmation and tells me to try again later. Maybe
next year....

Thanks to all for the q's and the patience to get the exchanges thru with 5&6
tries, and K5RC for the callsign and the loan of a well known TS930 to replace
my dead one for the weekend.

I'm already starting to remember this one fondly....what a difference a day
makes! This contest stuff sure is some kind of fun! Maybe they'll let us do this
again next year.
