Comments:
Thanks N6HR Hillar & Elsie N7YX for the
QTH on Whidbey Island IOTA-065.
Thanks Danny K7SS for the USA callsign.
Equip: FT1000 Field, Acom, CT
Antennas: 2 Towers approx 80'. 4el 20 & C31XR.
::QTH is above the salt water Strait of Juan de Fuca
opening to the Pacific, and the enhancement from it was
certainly needed, and noticed. Quiet pin-drop sigs night
surfing off the coast were captured all night! Amazing.
::Comments
Started the contest on 40 and after a few hours it came to me:
A SINGLE BAND 20 ENTRY IS THE KEY!
::Conditions
LONG PATH 1am PST on 20m due south for 45 mins.
IH9/OL5Y, LZ, etc. Water shot sure helped!
80% of the Q's seemed to be UA3-9.
::Memorable
It's the last 5 minutes of the contest and the during the past 15 mins
the band seems to be steadily opening from the night time fades.
XV2M CQ's in the growing QRM, I need him! Turning to grab the key I bump the
dial sending me far far away from that tiny segment...
I spent 5 mins looking and find him with 20 seconds to spare on 14.019.
