Comments:

Instead of going out to the "real" station I used a radio I have here in the
house. Antennas were a tribander at 30 feet and a 40m dipole about 10 feet off
the ground.
I let my daughter Rachel(age 8)push the buttons on the computer and actually let
her find one of the locals on 80m by herself. She made me proud! I just sent
the call so that she could hear what to listen for, told her to try to find that
call between 3540 and 3545....and she did it. Not much to be done on 80/160
with just the 40m dipole.
It was certainly a reality check to operate from a setup that I would consider
to be about normal for those guys with a small city lot, a small tower and a
piece of wire.
I was skeptical about posting this puny score...but dad and daughter spent some
quality time together and did something that not many others have or ever will
do. I think it is worth letting the world know.
