Equipment Description: Yaesu FT1000MP & Alpha 78
Finished Installing A howebrewed 5 element 15 Meter yagi late on Saturday.
Began operating bright and early Sunday morning.
My fabrication played very well, however I guess in my haste to get it to the
top of the tower, I didn't pay enough attention to the hairpin matching so
after
about an hour or so on Sunday Morning and undoubtedly aided and abetted by
some heavy gales overnight the matching went south , so it was up the tower
down the with the beam on Sunday to sort things out and effect a sturdier and
more permanent matching device, better now than in Winter !
Later on Sunday after got beam lowered, repaired and raised again, all
Seemed to work well:
668 qsos in 3 1/2 hours
Best Last 10 rate Hit 492
Best Last 100 Hit 397
Have another 2 beams to go and one more tower ... wx dependant, should be
good for a few months ( weeks ? Days ? )
Looks like conditions were much better than had been forecast.
Hopefully all antenna work will be finished for CQWWCW.
