Comments:

Pure smashmouth operating. Without a doubt, the toughest January in a while.
Only Es on 6m was VP9 - and a full 3 hours of it at that. No other enhancements,
enticements or excitements to speak of. Lots of line noise due to the 5F temps,
high winds and arcing insulators.

BIG thanks to all the rovers braving the weather (especially in the Northeast),
snow (8' snow piles reported near Watertown, NY) and madness on the air. It'd be
much less an event if you weren't out there to make it that much more fun! And
also thanks to the Rochester VHF Group for turning out in such numbers this
year!

Some of the fun stuff, was working a rover on 10GHz while they didn't have an
antenna connected (horn broke, tried with an unterminated coax to the mast -
still was S9). Working a couple new VE3s on 1296 (which was both cool AND
mutually beneficial) and finding out that cheap plastic microphones can't
withstand a few Gs of impact on a hard floor. It dropped, really.

It's been a long year. The subtle improvements to the station have seemingly
paid off, so now its time to focus on the massive improvements to see if I can't
eke out a few more points next time! More power on 2m, bigger antenas and more
of them.

I used Roverlog 1.8.2 during the contest - and I must commend N1MU for spending
so much time and effor to make it a GREAT software package! If you need to look
for a different way to go, I'd highly recommend it.

See you all on the bands!

Mark, K2AXX
