Comments:
Compared to last year, this outing wasn't very good but it's about what I
expected. Although Qs were down by 120, the mults were down by only 35.
I had planned to work WPX from the farm QTH (mentioned in CQWW CW03) but ended
up having to stay around the house. (It was an investment in future contesting
-- sold our house and we're moving to a new place with tall pines on a ridgeline
300 feet above the valley, with much better HF horizons).
I couldn't get 40 going, but got close to last year's stellar 49-Q mark on 80.
The low beam wasn't doing much for me on the high bands, but I did hit my
minimal target of 100 on 20.
Didn't work any VK/ZLs, and JA stations were not as plentiful as I had hoped
for. As usual, I couldn't work much into the eastern U.S., but worked most of my
friends in W6-land, which is an unobstructed shot from here.
Only managed to get on the air for 10 hours or so.
Looking forward to next weekend's CW test -- will operate from the folks' farm
QTH again, and hope for the best.
Thanks to everyone for the contacts. See you in the next one!
-- Bud, VA7ST
