Comments:
In order to lessen confusion about my QTH, I decided to adopt Paul's call for
the contest. I think it was more confusing to some of the phone guys to hear
someone who wasn't Paul!
I had a great time. I was hoping to better last year's performance and sweep
the MI counties. No such luck this year. I think I was partly distracted by
having a bigger station and the ability to readily make SSB QSOs readily, too.
The mobiles would disappear for what seemed like an hour or more before
resurfacing. They did a great job...thanks for the QSO's and passes: K8MR
(31), WT9U (29), AF8A (25), K8IR (12), K8MW (6), AC8W (5), N9NE (4), W8TTX (1).
Some of the pileups were huge on CW! I'm sure they had fun with them.
A big thunderstorm rolled through and put me off the air for the last 30 minutes
or so. I figure it cost me a couple Q's and a mult or two. The out-of-state
competition will be very interesting this year. I heard big numbers being
handed-out by K5YAA, WA3HAE, N9JF, and WA0MHJ, to name a few.
Thanks to Paul and Mary for having me. Also thanks to Mark, KB9S, for coming
out to troubleshoot the CAT interface on the FT-1000D.
