Comments:

Quirky conditions on day 1, with major major compromises in antennas this year.
Many thanks must go to Tom Schiller (N6??) at Force12 in Paso Robles (CA,USA)
for saving the day with his 40XK vertical and Charlie W0YG with his C4S antenna
he has on the island here. I ran out oftime to set up Tom's F12 6Y-160 vertical,
hence 80/160 were off line this year. 75m was wide open, with none of the usual
tropical noise, and heard so may EU/JA stations, but regretting not having time
to set it up properley. Clunked a piece of wire on 75m to work a VK (1200km) and
YB just 380km away.

10m snapped open and shut within minutes on both days, and could have quadrupled
my 10m rate into EU but for either bad receivers in EU or ops simply not
listening for my calls... I'm now convinced EU ops have a vested interest in
thwarting a DX op like this, my 2nd year of the same. Of course no possible
chance at zone 40 as a result..

Highlights were working Bhutan and Albania on 2 or 3 bands..

To get around this antenna issue in 2005, and leaving the way open for future
visits here, I've submitted a detailed proposal to the CI Chamber of Commerce
which will eventually go in front of the island administrators. This broadly
allows for two very heavy 35m towers spaced 90m apart on a 5000sqm block (I
don't know the imperial measure for this), two demountables with full
underground services, and everuthing far enough away from population to keep
EMI/EMC and our ACA EM safety guidelines fully satisfied. Both of my 25m (81')
long boom yagis on the island would go up easy on these structures - something I
just couldn't do this year.

CUall in 2005 from zone 29/VK9X.
