Comments: My wife's Dad picked this weekend (!!) for a visit from CA. We
haven't seen him in 3 years. I talked my wife out of having to go the Atlanta on
Saturday. I was on call for work and explained it would be better to stick
around home... plus we were watching the neighbors dog when they were in CO and
added I could take care of that too... BTW the neighbor is a ham but not a
contester.... So I was set to operate all of Saturday. Everyone was coming down
to our house on Sunday so I knew I would probably not get much time then and
there was no way to get in a FT effort. I ended up doing about the first 11-12
hours and a few hours at the end on Sunday night.
Thanks to W4NZ for his help on getting my DX Doubler working with NA. It worked
great... Earlier in the week when the county was mowing behind us they mowed
down one end of my NW/SE 40 meter half square. I ended up just replacing it with
a wire vertical with 4 elevated radials about 6 feet off the ground. That way I
would have an omni-directional antenna for my 2nd 40 meter antenna. It worked
great... All the W6/W7 came right back when I called and asked for no repeats..
Plus I was able to run with it OK when I had the zepp on 80 meters on the 2nd
radio. I had both KL7WV and KH6NF called in early Sunday morning so it must work
!!!! I ended up missing NF, VE2 (ouch!), VE6 and NWT.
I heard VY1JA on Saturday night on 20 meters but he had a huge pileup. I tried
off and on the break thru with no luck...
