Comments:
Last year was so great. Seemed like 10M was open to everywhere in the USA -
particularly on the first day last year including states near and far. This
year was another matter. Friday started out ok but made about 23% of my total
QSOs Friday night. Conditions were rough for QRP for most of the contest from
here. When the band was open, it was usually very long. Lots of fast heavy
QSB Sunday that is really rough on QRP. Did manage to work some close in stuff
using backscatter - a challenge with QRP. Signals to South America and
Carribean were usually strong. At one point late Sunday afternoon, the only
signal I could hear on the band was ZL1V - wierd. Totals versus last year:
240 QSOs versus 598 last year. 41 states and Provences versus 58 last year.
Did manage 18 countries versus 14 last year. And I worked at it more hours
than last year - so if last year was magical, this year was a grind from a QRP
perspective! Oh well, enough whining. 73/72 and thanks to the folks with the
good ears!
