Station:

FT-100 w/ 500 and 300 Hz filters @ 90W
SGC 230 autotuner with 40' wire, 20 ft. high to a tree in back yard
SCS PTC-IIpro
Sony FX-215 / WinXP pro / Writelog 10.49D

Decided to try out a PTC-IIpro on RTTY. I normally run an FT-990 with MMTY /
Writelog. Since the laptop only has one serial port, I had no rig control or
band map -- I miss those and accidently duped one Q because I forgot to change
bands in Writelog. The PTC-IIpro seemed to decode pretty well, my impression is
it's "almost as good as MMTY", although I didn't do any simultaneous
comparisons. The PTC-II acted goofy a couple of times when I sent multiple Fkey
commands to it - MMTY never misses a beat doing this. Guess I'll save the
PTC-IIpro for Maritime Mobile HF e-mail on Pactor III. MMTY is superior in my
view, plus using the sound card frees up the serial port for T/R and Rig
control.

Sailboat race limited my time on Sunday afternoon ( yes, we do race in the rain
here in Southern California! ) Thanks to all that worked me.

Dave / W6ZL
