Comments:
Only my second rover operation. Added 222Mhz this time around and the
combination of the M2 10el yagi, DEMI transverter and my Kenwood TS-2000 worked
beautifully. 6m was again a disapointment. Also added 16el yagi for 432MHz and
expected to see improvments over the 10el I used in September but could not see
a difference in performance. Possibly due to being stacked to close to the
other yagis on the mast?!?!?
Improvements: Need to figure out a way to get some type of gain antenna for 6m.
Also the addition of a highway map with maidenhead grid squares would be nice
BUT I do not think there is such a thing. Need to better plan my route next
time and know when it is time to move on to the next grid instead of setting and
calling CQ and not being productive. Would also like to add 1.2GHz to make a
nice 5 band rover.
Thanks to everyone who followed me through the grids and for everyone who stuck
it out when signals were barely above the noise. VHF contesting is truly a
unique experience and a challenge. I enjoy it very much and look forward to the
June contest. 73 Matt - W5LL
