Still having fun after all these years. The first 5 minutes of the contest
were lost due to a computer control line that came loose on rig 2. Found it
pretty quickly though. Then I spent way too much time on 10 and 15. I thought I
had totally blown it, but the mults on 10 and 15 turned out OK.
This was by far the best I have done with SO2R. I actually began to enjoy it.
It is amazing that I can still hear pretty well because I can't hear my teenage
girls talking to me or anyone in a restaurant or public place where there is
background noise. Sometimes I wonder what could be worked by someone who still
has ears.
I still remember the day I came home from high school and 20M was wide open to
EU and USSR at my CA qth. They were all sending 599 14, 15 ,16 etc. I worked
about 10 new countries with my DX-100 and 3 el 12-foot boom at 30 feet before
K6TSY (K6RF) came home from work. I was so excited and can remember asking him
what was going on. Dad told me it was a DX contest. That was it! I was badly
stung by the contest bug and I have never recovered.
