Comments:

Does it always rain during the Ohio QSOP? Most of the day was kinda dry, with a
light drizzle until later in the day when I got to Ashtabula County. I only
made 18 contacts from the fairgrounds in Jefferson, when the sky started getting
very black and the drizzle turned to rain. I decided to QSY to Conneaut in
order to make a dash for home if it got worse. Well, it got worse and as I
approached Conneaut, I decided to head for home. The contest was over for me.

Otherwise it was a blast compared to last year. This time I knew where I would
be operating from in Portage, Geauga, Trumbull and Ashtabula. I was using
Hustler antennas this year and they seemed to do much better than the Diamond I
used last year. As a bonus, I had the 80 meter resonator and made a few
contacts on that band. I'd have worked more 80 meters, but the rains came.

Everything worked well and Mr. Murphy stayed away. Only problem was operator
error with the computer. When I set the time, I ended up starting the contest
at 0400 on the 28th of August. Yep, didn't notice that until the end of the
contest. Had to add 12 hours to all the times and change the date to the 27th.
What a pain!

My apoligies to all the guys who I couldn't go back to except with the "canned"
cw response in the computer. Next time, I'll have a keyer along so I can say
"HI" and "How you doing?", or answer any QSY requests.

Thanks for all the contacts. I know I sounded like a lid sometimes, but the
Ohio QSOP is fun. I like the one day format, which makes it easy on the family
over the weekend.

(did I mention the rain?)
