Hats off to the W3LPL and K3LR teams! We can never rest on our laurels with
competition like them.
160 meters: We were happy to have Top Band aficiando K1QX do Friday night duty
on Top Band until WA1Z joined us after midnight. As we near the sunspot
minimum, 160 is finally starting to deliver the kind of numbers we haven't seen
in years.
80 meters: W1FV calls this the best ever DX contest weekend on 80. The
European runs the first night were simply phenomenal and the multipliers were as
deep as they've been in a long time.
40 meters: Contest veteran K1GQ took on the challenge of doing 40 basically by
himself, with short relief stints by KC1XX. Bill endured some very lean hours
in the middle of the night as the MUF dropped so low that propagation to Europe
almost vanished entirely.
20 meters: Our guest duo of W2RQ and N2AA delivered the goods on our "money"
band this contest. One of the things we discovered and fixed just in time for
the weekend was a badly mangled section of feedline to the main 20m stack, which
may have hampered our 20m performances in the past year.
15 meters: N3RD likes to remind us that we always seem to win when he joins us
to do 15m :-) Dave was rather disappointed by the numbers he was churning out
on 15 until we learned after the contest that it was just as bad for everyone
else.
10 meters: If 15 was bad, then 10 was excruciating. Station-meister KC1XX,
with relief help from WA1Z, ground out 144 agonizing contacts and no Europeans
with the worst 10m propagation in years.
