Comments:

Friday: Things started out well - the band was quiet, signal levels were good
and the stations adjacent to me weren't causing problems. However there was
some guy with an S9+ signal that was occasionally deliberately QRMing me sending
strings of dots and other random junk. After about an hour and a half the level
of QRM increased to the point my rate dropped to 20/hour and I was forced to
move. I started a band scan and was fortunate to almost immediately find a
vacant spot down at 1808 - a nice turn of luck. I CQed most of the evening and
only took one short break - when I came back I had a very productive scan of the
band. It turns out that this was the only time that I did a serious S&P. Later
attempts didn't yield much since I managed to work out the band pretty
thoroughly. Went to bed at 2:00 AM with 709 QSOs, 73 sections and 22 countries
logged.

Saturday: Based on the success I had last year running a daylight hours auto-CQ
loop I started about 2:30 in the afternoon and managed to duplicate the results
I had last year - about 90 stations in three hours. After sunset things didn't
pick up much but with around 800 stations logged this wasn't much of a surprise.
Still, for the most part my QSO rate stayed high enough that I wasn't tempted
to try any band scans. I did check the DX window and make quick band scans
before and after any breaks but only logged a few stations.

Sunday: Watched the Patriots have an unconvincing win over the hapless Jets.

I think I set a personal record for percentage time CQing vs. S&Ping. I also
broke my previous high score by a considerable margin and had my best section
total ever (75 -missed SJV, MB, Yukon, Hawaii, and Alaska).

I only logged a few DX stations by calling them (Caribbean stations in the DX
window 6Y0A, P40AT, ...). During the contest I felt that I should have been
working more European stations since I had heard so many active last weekend in
the CQ WW test but comparing the count (83) with the count from last year (27) I
guess I didn't do too badly.
