Comments:
I didn't really commit myself to this one, but was interesting in seeing what
the condx were like. Ended up working it until half past midnight (local)
because it was so much fun. Just couldn't face working the additional 6 or 7
hours to take it through sunrise, however.
Antenna was 1/4 wave, slanted upward about 60 deg,inverted L with the
counterpoise in salt water. Rx antenna was a Pennant with a blown resister, so
I guess it was bi-directional, at best! As the evening wore on, the QRN seemed
to subside. By midnight, the QRN was reasonably low. The few left coast stns
that I worked were quite easy to copy.
With this as an encouraging sign, will try to put more effort into the Jan 160
contest.
