Bounced around the idea of dragging my stuff to the desert, but decided that I
didn't have the energy this year. Instead, I spent Saturday crawling through the
weeds at W6VIO with KG6YYP trying to find out what was wrong with one of the
hardlines feeding the antenna farm over there. Turned out to be water in the
line. Came home and after I watched a DVD with my wife, I decided to see if the
new home station antenna was working on 160 meters. Seems like the extra
vertical height (60' vs 40') hasn't hurt anything as I was able to work most
everything I could hear. Still some room for improvement on the radial system,
but that will have to wait until we landscape the front yard. Operation was 100%
search and pounce (was hoping for a shot at the plaque, but it appears that W7AT
has bested me by a large margin).
