Comments:
My first serious RTTY contest and it was fun but not much challenge in letting
"my machine work that machine". It was also the first contest with the new LCD
touch-screen system for antenna system and it beats the old rotary switches
hands down. The two biggest surprises here were 40 and 80. On Saturday night 80
was very quiet with good conditions. Over 200 stations worked covering all call
areas. Things got pretty quiet there about 0800Z so I decided to give 40 a last
check before calling it a night. Heard only 3 or 4 stations calling CQ there so
decided to give a few CQs before shutting down for the night. Well, those few
CQs opened an Asia floodgate and things were hopping until about 1000Z with over
100 Asia qsos in the log. Sunday was pretty good but 15 was not as good as
Saturday. Unlike SS I was able to hlod a good rate all the way to the end.
Everything worked beautifully and the AL-1200 ran a full KW all weekend with no
complaints. miLog software ran perfectly and no computer crashes.
See you all in the next contest.
