FT-817 5 watts output
Hustler [DX Engineering] 4BTV vertical and an 80 m. dipole, both coated with
over 1/2 inch of ice from Thursday's ice storm. My rate was about 8 Qs per
hour, not the best, but still a lot of fun via QRP. Best DX: ZK1NOU on South
Cook Island, well over 1000 miles per watt. Other good catches: 6V6U, KH6WT,
TF4M, J43J, 4Z5J, KL7DX. Tnx ALL who took the time to complete an exchange with
me. I heard only one QRP DX station: YV5YMA and tried many times to work him,
but with no success. Considering band condx, power, and antennas, I was very
satisfied with my results. I like the fact that USA stations cannot work other
USA stations or Canada. It is a true DX contest for USA/Canadian ops, and a
good way for DX to get WAS or WAVE. Tnx agn, everyone. Hpe CU agn nxt yr.
