Comments:
First of all, HUGE thanks to HA6ND & HA6PX for letting me use (and mess up) the
station ! It is always a thrill from operating this station!
Before the contest I set 2400 Qs and 9m points for target but that time I did
not count with the aurora. Reaching the point target in the last 20 seconds was
fun!
KL2A wrote in his summary: "As for RDXC - BE FOREWARNED: This contest will be
HUGE when the cycle peaks! " Believe me, it already as - making 100+ hours when
K-index is 6 is the proof ! :)
160m: Installing a Beverage to east paid off especially when went to SSB to work
those 6-letter calls from Russia. Missed a few easy ones like 1N, 3T, 3U, 3V
and 4N and UA0YAY could not hear me. 6W/RW3TN had HUGE sigs. I think I was an
alligator towards NA but after working W4ZV I almost never switched to the NA
bev :)
80m: was the real money band as the aurora forced down the masses to this band.
It was filled completely up to 3570. Missed 1T, 3S and a few from the
northernmost 9s but working 0U, 0C was fun. Hrd RU0LL and a ZL (I think 1TM)
but they did not find me. 9V1YC was LOUD
40m: aurora knocked it out in the evening so was glad to go down early. Missed
6Y, 0C and 0Y. :( Right b4 the end at local noon I hrd UA0DC, UA0ZAM, RU0LL,
UA0BA on skewed path (ESE) but could not hear me. It would have been a nice
finish ! :)
20m: the usual :) the increase of "foreign" participants was obvious - this year
it was better not to run in Russian on SSB! :) Missed 1T (UA1TAN Valeriy where
were U???), 6E and unbelievably 3P. Hrd: UA0XAQ, and a few traces of UA0IBX and
UA0DC.
15m: had the aurora come half a day earlier my chances would have improved a lot
:) The skip was too long for me and stations further on the west could work
the masses of EU Russians I couldn't.
10m: right before the end I heard traces of RK2FWA what I think was aurora but
decided not to bother and leave the 20m pileup for that. Listening to DQ4W
trying to pull out a few QSOs made me think it was right ! :)
During the contest I really like the comments I've got from WWYC-lids on the
live webcam. FYI: THAT bottle was NOT decoration! ;)
As the late OJ used to say: nw 354 days till the next one...
