Comments:

A great Low Band DX-Fest!

A hearty pat on the back for Team W3LPL, especially the DXCC on 160 meters and
the Killer 80m score.

The expression "Listening Time = Operating Time" explains my relaxed DX/SWL
weekend. I spend a good part of the weekend monitoring and tuning the bands.
I tried Maximizing my country count on 80 & 160 Saturday night (Friday night
was basically an "off radio" night. I also dilligently practiced pileup
breaking techniques and sharpened my skills. I admit to squandering large
quanities of time just to get through some doozies, and find out what worked,
and what didn't. I never did get through the D4 pile near the end of the
contest.

Steve, N3SB finally got to see his art-work on 40 meters play. He tuned the
40m band, spotted some interesting stuff and sat back to listen to the
vultures. Steve put most of the 94 countries worked on 40 in the log himself
in just over 4 hours - nice job OM.

10 meters was a HUGE surprise with a "low angle" European opening - with some
loud signals and a lot of light ones. They were direct path for me, and I
definitely had a case of tower envy listening to those with serious hardware
working stuff I couldn't hear.

I've never heard 160 sound like 20 before, and that's one way to describe it
this weekend. Guys all over the world - just plain LOUD!

It was also fun chasing 5a7a on the bands - and getting them on all 6, which I
expect many folks did. It was never a struggle to work them - when they were
on, they were LOUD - and managed the pileup extremely well.

Thanks to Bob, W4MYA and Walt, K2WK for keeping N3SB and I company with packet
talk messages. Great way to enjoy the contest.

It was great seeing everybody on the air - and of course we'll do this again
soon for the 160m and 10m contests coming up back to back...

73!
