Thanks for all the contacts - they are appreciated.
That was tough. "A" index was over 70 at the start of the Contest. You could
tune up your rock crusher amp anywhere on the 20 and 40 meter band as there
wasn't anyone there to interfere with. Both were dead. Fortunately, 80 meters
took up the slack at the start of the Contest. 80 seemed more like 40 meters as
it was quite to the extent that the inv. vee worked as well on receiving as the
Beverages. Good propagation on 80 and lots of activity. The European Sun Rise
was fun as the signals, and lots of them, were strong and easy to copy with the
quite band. Even Bob, ZL2AMI, was 100 percent copy on the inv. vee when he
called at ~0712 Z on 80 m. The bands came back to normal (for this point in
the Sun Spot Cycle) about 12 hours into the Contest. Still it was fascinating
experiencing the rapid changing band conditions. However, not interested in
"experiencing" this again though.
Even with these lousy conditions throughout a good portion of the Contest I was
able to beat my 2005 score.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
