Comments:
This contest was the result of an outstanding effort of the organizers and Okie
hams that made the Oklahoma Centennial a year to truly remember and be proud
of.
The multitude of 1 by 1 calls really gave an edge to those using electronic
logging, as antique paper logs made it impossible to keep tabs of dupes, I
being the latter. It slowed me down on Saturday, and on Sunday I trusted
others to check when asked. I won the first plaque to be sent to Canada last
year, and did better this year but was no match for seasoned cw pro Norm VE3NBJ
who pulled over 50k for a score and likely to be the new plaque winner this
year. My last year's score was 14,410 for comparison.
Rovers make any QSO party exciting, and this year so many were out and about to
make chasing them fun and challenging. I cannot post tabs on number of qso's
with each, and noted that two-thirds of qso's were cw for me. The bonus mug
for those working hams with the suffix letters forming O*K*L*A*H*O*M*A was met,
with the H being the hardest to find. I will enjoy using this mug very much.
Also, receiving the Centennial qsl cards and certificates is a great thank you
for participation.
It was great to hear so many Canadians active this year in the contest. I hope
all submit logs for credit both here and in the contest. Thanks again to all
responsible for the organization, to the many fixed and rover stations teaming
up for the event and to all who gave points to each.
Remember our Ontario QSO Party is April 21 and 22.
73,
Bill VE3CRU /R often
