Comments:

What can I say after all this??? WOW!!!

The above score is tentative only, as I ran paper logs, no dupe sheets and need
to go over everything carefully. A few mobiles did not identify as such in the
beginning so the extra points are not showing. This will offset the
possibility of a few dupes not caught already. Oops, forgot to add points for
working the host contest station too. You can do that.

I started off with the intention of defending my last year's win of Top Overall
Counties and Independent Cities worked at 74, and must say I did succeed. Never
got around to using the voice memory keyer in the ProII so the Heil headset and
footswitch got a lot of mileage. I can hardly talk today. Last year's score
was over 23,000, so a slight improvement this year.

The most productive band was 40, perhaps 80% of all qso's, with 15% on 80 and 5
on 160. Ran the ProII into the Ameritron AL-811H at 500 watts to help the
mobiles in high noise areas, most of the time and 100 watts at other times.
Antennas are an inverted vee up 25' in center and 7' on the ends facing south.
80 is a dipole up 30' with one leg north and the other west of the tower. 160
is damaged sloper 60' now up 40 and 3 radials. The sloper mast blew over 2
hours into the ARRL 160 last December and now up 40' due to the 45 degree bend
in the mast with a h/b base coil on 3" pvc pipe.

I changed from S & P to park and call most of the time, so mobiles came to me
instead of me chasing them. Great to have the combos on board too for
mobiles.
I cannot provide a tally of which mobile got the most points, but sure was
great hearing all of them. Regret that some were just too weak to copy even
with the second preamp on.

Looking for hints on what to do next with the log, as I am used to dupe sheets
for some contests, but no idea how to do one this time. Looking for a simple
electronic program that will convert my after the fact manual entry into
Cabrillo to please the contest log checkers. Used one for the CQ WW VHF last
year and 7 hours later it was done with 474 qso's. Groan. Those results are
coming in April.

Many thanks to the host club for running the contest. Without you a great
event could not happen. Also many thanks to all participants, including those
i was not fortunate enough to work. Your patience with me was much
appreciated, as I found myself getting either tongue tied or rattled at times,
age thing?

P.S. - got an idea for next year that all will like. Wait till then to find
out.

73,

Bill VE3CRU /R often
