Comments:

This was a painful weekend.

Not sure I have a chance for WRTC qualification under the new rules but figured
I should not pass this one up if I was to have any chance at all. I knew it was
going to be a challenge both becuase it was my first real operation from
California and I had a grueling week at a major corporate event on the east
coast.

To make matters worse, I got very sick on the flight home late Thursday night.
I was up all night and lost a lot of fluids. I could not make it into work on
Friday and could not even do calls from home.

Despite being weak, tired and dizzy, I headed over to N6RO's place after dark
with the hope I would feel better in the morning. I got better as the weekend
wore on, but it was a struggle to focus.

The biggest battle was using TRLOG for the first time. I found it hugely
non-intuitive and never really made the packet point-and-click work right.
Also, the packet overhead really taxed the computer and it took 5-7 seconds to
log each QSO.

The bright spot of the weekend was N6RO and his station. Ken was relentlessly
upbeat, despite my low morale, and his station was really impressive. It was
an honor to operate there. I never did get to see the antennas as I arrived
after dark and left before sunrise.

Rate proved to be a bit harder to achieve than from Barbados :-)

73, Tom W2SC
