Comments:

Had a slow start on 20. seemed like every one in the test all landed on 14041
right at the start. A hornets nest first few minutes. Stayed 17 minutes on 20
and then to 40. Stations were pretty down in the noise, but workable, except
for Pat in MT and Tom in OR... the skip distance was just right. Spent first
few minutes slow on 40 and then the band seemed to come alive. Maybe it was
just the adjustment of jumping from 20 w/ loud sigs and low QRN, to 40 and the
noise level being so much higher. Missed hearing some regulars K4BAI, K3LR,
K1ZZI, Did hear N8NA in DE but never got him or worked any 1 2 or 3, and most
of the eastern W4s...and N4AF in NC was way down from usual signal. Team
Seattle was probably out basking in the summer sun tonite, W7OM was sailing,
N7LOX, K7WA, NN7SS, all MIA, but Paul NG7Z saved the day w/ mults on 40 and 80
in WA. (K7RI Station: IC7800 cranked down to 100w, Pair of KT36XAs at 40' and
80', one E and one SE, 4 el 40 M2 Yagi at 60', and quarter sloper from same
tower at 40' for 80m. Paper and pencil log, computer F1, F2 buttons to send
part of the exchange. SO1R) 73 to all ... enjoy the IARU and practice WRTC
being put on by SCCC this weekend. K7SS
