Comments:

This was the most operators that W3SO has ever had during a contest. However a
few were only on site for either Saturday or Sunday. Three of the operators
were first time participants at W3SO.

6m conditions were poor, more grids were worked on 144MHz and 432MHz than on
6m, and more QSOs were made on 2m than on 6m. 222MHZ was only three grids
behind 50MHz and on 222MHz W3SO only had 100w vice 1KW on 50MHz. (222MHz is an
under recognized/appreciated band.)

On Saturday, W3SO lost 2 hours at the 432 position due to equipment failure but
the problem was successfully circumvented. W3SO also had some minor computer
problems at three of the four positions. Thanks to networking and merging of
the logs, no QSOs were lost.

W3SO shut down after midnight ET and resumed operation about 6:30AM ET. Once
again W3SO picked up some multipliers on several bands in the last hour of the
contest.

Finally, the Wopsononock Mountaintop Operators (the W3SO team) appreciates the
Rovers not succumbing to the hike in gas prices due to Hurricane Ike. Thanks to
all the Rovers for many QSOs. It is a "high" to work those well engineered Rover
stations that can quickly move thru the bands.

Look for W3SO in the Fall Sprints, and again in January.

For the Wopsononock Mountaintop Operators,
Ed, K3IXD
