Comments:
If it is snowing, it must be the January VHF SS! As always we
entered the M/L category. Having equipment problems in the past
and not really having addressed them we expected some trouble.
We were not disappointed! MOst of the problems was with the
432 equipment which really hurt our score. Only 25 QSOs on a
band that usually contributes many QSO points to the final
score. We went through 3 exciters and in the process blew up
the mast mounted preamp. We finally gave up on 432 after six
hours or so.
This was the first serious contest for KB1NRB at this station
and he pulled the overnight stint which added about 30-40 QSOs
which we would have missed. He also started the contest on 144
and got a taste of a good rate. KB1H on 50 Mhz had a 113 QSO hour
right around the start.
With the snow KB1DFB had to plow, W1UJ stayed home, and KB1NRB had to leave so
there was only one operator much of Sunday. This cuts down on the ability to
pass 6M QSOs to 2M.
We have allot of work to do before the June!! The configuration
of the station will be changed so full power can be run on all
bands at once plus hopefully we will get the new K3 on line.
Thanks for all the QSOs.
