Comments:

>From testing the week before we knew we were going to have a handicap on 2M and
432. The 2M mast mounted preamp was dead and the DEM 440 transverter sounded
terrible and almost FMing. We made plans to use a TS-2000 on 432 with a 100W
brick. On 2m it was lots of power and no ears.

>From the start of the contest until 0300Z Sunday we had plenty of operators.
After that we were down to 2 or 3 operators until the end. What we did manage
to do was go the complete contest without a "0" QSO hour. If only 6M was a
little more friendly to us up here in the northeast. It was tough watching all
the packet spots for 6M knowing that others were racking up huge QSO totals on
6M. After the first eight hours every 6M QSO seemed like pulling teeth. We did
work two grids in Washington (W7) on Sunday so conditions seem to be there.
W7MEM was solid into FN41 for at least two hours but we could not get anybody's
attention after many CQs. At least we did work W7MEM.

Without the preamp on 2M it was also tough. We were told we had a pileup of
stations calling us Saturday but we could not hear them. Elephant voice with
mouse ears!

222 was OK. nothing spectacular for sure.

432 was like 2M, decent siognal but tough hear without the mast mounted
preamp.
We normally run about 600-800 watts on this band so with no preamp the 100W
was
sufficent.

We are getting excited for the CQWW VHF in July and have already started plans
for repairs.

Thanks to all for the QSOs, QSYs., and patience .
