Comments:
80 percent of contacts were made with Japan, several Russian Zone 16,
South Korean and Thailand. Only one contact each was made with China and
Vietnam.
High winds and distant storms may have been responsible for some of the QRN
On the first night, but overall 40-m band conditions seemed O.K.
Among the handicaps were birds and cats:
During the first hours of the first night, the sound of the woodpecker
(over-the-horizon HF radar) masked all but the strongest 40-meter signals.
Our cat made trips past the transceiver, each time brushing against the VFO
dial (usually whenever I was within a cat whisker of logging another
multiplier).
N1MM Logger was used for the first time, and it worked well while using
touch-typing.
However, looking at the function keys caused confusion because
my keyboard still has a TR-Log template (paper) attached.
Although N1MM Logger is full-featured,
it is easier to configure than I expected. It is intuitive in S&P mode.
But when in â??RUNâ?? mode (â??CQ Modeâ?? for TR-Log diehards),
I ran into a multi-tasking difficulty when an attempt was made
to edit previous Contact information.
(Mouse positioning took too long, and the current contact
must have wondered about my delay.)
