Comments:

Hey THAT WAS FUN !!! I didn't miss the F openings to EU and ASIA from years
past, THIS contest there was plenty to do:

Chasing signals that would pop up only long enough to hear part of a call, then
dive back into the noise....running like mad into all of CA, AZ, NV at the same
time on Saturday afternoon with GREAT RATE.....working and meeting many of the
new local guys on the air who hang out on 10 daily....and grinding like mad
when the little F openings happened (PY, LU, CE, CX around 2100z both days, and
KH6, ZL, VK, E51 in the Pacific around 2230 on Sunday and only for a very short
window)...all made this a very fun and vital event. Throw in a good nights
sleep, a few part time football games, and a friday evening party, and you have
the makings for a GREAT CONTEST WEEKEND. AND it was mostly happening in the CW
band...another bonus.

Meteor shower QSOs were especially fun. Reminded me of the old scatter 6m
Sunday morning QSOs into CA. "over over over"... bits and pieces adding up to a
solid QSO.

And WHEN, in all the contests, all year long, does W9 become the elusive RARE
DX never heard !?>!? no IL, no IN, no WI.... amazing.
In fact nothing East of the MS River, except one OH in the last 30 minutes.
(yes, OHIO, not FINLAND).
It made for a great photo finish....the band suddenly popped into brand new
areas. ND, VE5, OH, VE3. all new ones.
Worked only 2 TX all weekend (K5TR a whisper on ssb, and then K5NA in that last
30 min.). Oh, those fickle E clouds...

FUN STUFF... ! 10 Meters is alive and well. It's just giving us different
toys
to play with this year. Who knows what'll happen in 2010?
