Comments:

I had a bad cold for this one but got on anyway to support the team. Seemed to
run out of new stations to work so I gave up after 2 1/2 hours; besides, I had
a good headache. I think most of our local contesters were working the RTTY
contest, and I'm guessing others elsewhere were doing the same thing. RTTY
contesting is getting very popular.

It might only be the date conflict is causing the operators to avoid the SSB
Sprint. However, if it is no longer popular, perhaps the contest
administrators could experiment with this contest, such as: another weekend
(my preference), different days of the week (would more people turn out for a
mid week contest?), maybe low bands only - and, when the solar cycle peaks -
maybe high bands only. Perhaps the QSY feature should be looked at - I don't
mind the QSY rule but we have a few in the club who hate it; would amending it
be amenable so that instead of QSYing 5 khz after the CQ, you only have to QSY
1, 2, or 3 khz?
