Comments:
Well I NEVER! I thought I had seen wall-to-wall RTTY activity in the past, but
THIS takes the cake! I had not planned a major time investment in this one, but
I got suckered-in. Not only were the bands loaded with signals, it was great to
see 15 meters open to EU both days with booming signals. And it wasn't a short
opening window either.
About half way through I decided to log onto the live scoreboard. N2CU and I
played leap-frog scoring in our SOLP class. It was getting harder and harder to
jump ahead on the next refresh so I decided to break out of my S&P mode and find
a place to RUN stations. That worked pretty well, and I was surprised how many
new prefixes just showed up out of the blue and called!
There was some one-way propagation on 40m as the band opened up to EU. It's
always tough to copy their signals S9 plus, call them, and get another CQ
thrown back at you! Then like magic, an hour or so later it's no problem to
work them on low power.
This was another contest where nothing blew up. Well, except for the operator.
I seem to be making more mistakes each time a contest rolls around. If it gets
too bad, send the guys over and take my radio away. I'll understand. ;-)
