Looked closely at my previous best (2008) and figured I could beat it handily
this time out, as sunspots were promising. I set my targets quite a bit ahead
of that previous best. Alas, my targets were based on 15M opening well to
Europe, and good 40M and 80M runs, which didn't happen.

Best surprise: 4Z4 calling in on 15M when I was foolishly trying to do what the
East and Midwestern stations were doing on Sunday morning: work Europe. Did work
another station over the pole for 1.5 more hours after that.

Was very excited to work TR8CA on 20M for my only AF station all weekend. That
sixth continent sure makes the score leap ahead. Also worked a VU2 for the
second weekend in a row. At least, I hope I worked a VU2 as he was being
clobbered by someone almost on top of him.

Biggest disappointments: Europe on 15M from B.C. Not much of an opening at all
with just 12 Europeans worked. Also, only 1 African Q is a real shocker after
many months with plenty of Africa heard and worked. Heard 6W2 on 20M and 15M
but couldn't break through the wall. No EA8 or CN8 this time around.

Was not impressed with 80M at all -- no JAs heard. Thought domestic activity
was noticeably down Friday night through Sunday morning; assumed it was due to
RDXC the same weekend.

Put in 20 hours, though it felt like 30. Despite not being happy with the
bands, I actually am quite pleased to have pushed the personal best quite a bit
higher, with best-ever country and call-area totals.

Year-over-year comparison:

      QSOs DX Areas Conts Points
2010 637 84 70 6 588,588 HP
2009 352 37 46 6 177,408 HP
2008 705 63 57 6 501,840 HP
2007 432 55 47 6 264,384 HP
2006 328 26 49 6 147,600 LP
2004 293 46 67 5 164,980 LP
2003 155 26 36 5 50,375 LP

Thanks for the contacts. See you next weekend with mic boom lowered (gasp).
