Boy oh boy. I sure sabotaged myself. Saturday morning I volunteered along
with three others to pick up a load of fir rounds from a guys place in
Sultan. It took three 3/4 ton trucks to move it to Snohomish plus a 2 ton
trailer. We spent 4 hours loading, offloading and splitting it for the
church. Got back at 1pm and I was totaled. A good cause no doubt as the wood
is used for those folks in Snohomish who are poor and heat with wood.
Nevertheless, I was bombed for the rest of the day and just dabbled in the
contest.
Wound up with 11 1/2 hours on the radio. Mostly S&P with a few short runs.
Just couldn't find anywhere to CQ. Besides, I was using barefoot and it was
difficult to squeeze in among all the KWs. Anyway, it was fun on Sunday
morning and afternoon when I felt better. The main thing is this is the best
score in SSCW so far for me and that what I was hoping to accomplish. I was
very pleased with the 80M total. Got lots of east coasters with the low
power. Late this afternoon, my 40-2CD showed very high SWR all of a sudden.
The problem is somewhere between the shack and the antenna. Damn. I may do the
SSB portion but will use HP instead. Thanks for the Q's 73
