Still trying to understand what happened (didn't happen) in the first hour. 15
was marginal and 40 not ready for prime-time so I decided to start on 20. From
the very first minute I couldn't get answers to my CQ's (15 was no better).
Thanks to some S&P'ing I managed all of 74 Q's in that first hour. That
compares rather unfavorably to my 116 in the first hour last year. Old Chuck
and George contest rule: You never get back what you don't get in the first
hour. I knew I was toast, but kept fighting it through to the finish. Not
sure if it's universal, but my personal observation is that fatigue assumes a
larger shadow for me when I'm 100+ numbers behind the competitive curve.
Kudos to Gator & the Bark-man for their superb jobs. Also to K0SR--I once
lived up there in MN & remember how hard it can be--good job, OM!
Chuck was the consummate host & Gail's chicken soup got me through the last 4
hours. You guys are the best!
I hear they're running another one of these next year. See you there...
