Comments:
I had hoped to do better this year then last year.
On Friday morning I found a broken tip on a 20 meter yagi. I made a temporary
fix, but was on the tower for 2 hours, 8 hours before the test.
The test started out OK. On Sunday morning at 0930Z the trouble began.
1) Big rain storm took down the regions AC power.
2) I went to start the generator, but there was so much
rain I had to put on my boots and rain gear (more lost time).
3) Generator started out OK, but UPS on computers failed.
4) I use 2 PCs. The logging computer crashed 3 times under the generator.
5) I had to go to paper log during the best opening on 10M.
6) Acom 2000 kept shutting down (not trip) claiming 48 volts was too high.
7) Power came back on after 1.5 hours
8) Computers now OK on region AC power.
9) 2 hours later my keyboard â??2â??, â??Wâ??, and â??Sâ?? key failed.
10) Rebooted PC several times, but keyboard issue was not solved.
11) Switched to other keyboard and continued.
12) 3 hours from the end of the contest, my Right SO2R radio stopped
hearing signals.
This contest was very frustrating! It was not my weekend.
I never had so many problems. I used the generator last March with no
problems.
The PC UPS also worked flawlessly in march.
After the contest, the Right SO2R station started working again.
Thanks for all of the QSOs
