Comments:
I had a lot of antenna work to do before this one. Thanksgiving morning
(Thursday) was spend laying out this year's crop of "winter radials" in
preparation for this weekend's ARRL 160 contest. Thanksgiving afternoon was
spent with the family, and the plan was to wait until Friday morning to hang
the wires. Bad decision as high winds and freezing weather arrived Friday
morning. After struggling to get the 80 and 40 meter vertical wire elements
up, I decided to forego the rest and just do a single band 40 meter entry.
Conditions on 40 were great! After a few QSO's, I decided to scope out 80.
The same great conditions existed there also. So much for the single band 40
meter entry. In reading K1LT's posting, I'm kicking myself for not getting the
160 meter inverted L up.
With the Ohio State game on tap Saturday afternoon, the Browns playing Sunday,
and no antennas for 20/15/10, daytime operating time on the high bands was
somewhat limited. Nonetheless, things loaded up well enough using the antenna
tuner to have a bit of fun there also.
Thanks to all for the QSOs and cu all this weekend on 160!
