Comments:
Decent propagation with few sunspots made it interesting and pretty fun...until
Murphy struck multiple times midway thru.
Rig VFO dial locked up, N1MM logger glitches occurred...preventing "running" on
CW, new MAJOR local QRN problem cropped up wiping out all but strongest sigs for
hours, subsequent wireless mouse and keyboard problems...2nd half of 'test here
was a fiasco. Listened to nice late Sunday afternoon opening while I
troubleshooted, unable to transmit...bummer!
Nice Friday night 2 hr Sporadic E opening to Midwest and South...band DEAD
Saturday night. Strong Northwest, then West Coast during the day Sunday;
sometimes signals from all over nearly at once...wild.
Nice mults for 10m worked here: KH6, VE8, ZS, and a few Eu (EA8, G and SV).
Should have worked more SSB for the mults, but activity was so strong on CW and
phone is a chore.
Good news -- the doublet up @ 50 ft works very well...did encounter swr issues
Sunday; likely the open wire line exposed to heavy rains during the contest.
Hope to have a few things in-shack sorted out by the time of Stew Perry TBDC.
Rig: Circa '92 Icom IC-737, 88' doublet up @ 50', N1MM logger
