FT1000MP, 100W, TH6DXX, zepp, dipole, inverted vee, tee vertical. This was fun.
Conditions and score much better than last year. 10M was open to the far west
and 15 even more so. 20M was good for much of the country. Had some
significant power line noise mainly on the higher bands and probably missed a
few backscatter QSOs, but not many, since many of the stations I could hear on
backscatter couldn't hear me anyway. 40M activity started later than I had
expected. Found no activity between 7100 and 7125. Apparently the conflict
with the RTTY contest just moved NAQPers lower in the band than usual, at one
time down as low as 7002, but wasn't significant enough to get many to try the
upper CW frequencies. 80M was better than I remember it last year, including
an easy QSO with F5IN. Also worked HC2SL on a higher band. 160M was OK and I
was able to work almost everyone I could hear well there except VE3DZ. Nice to
work NP4Z on 5 bands, NP2X on many, AH6RE on 15, and several Alaskan stations on
15 and 20M. Thanks for all the QSOs and hope to work most of you on SSB next
weekend. 73, John, K4BAI.
