Comments:
Congratulations to the K3LR team for another superb performance under
difficult weather conditions and to the NR4M team for their first
third place finish. Its great to see two PVRC teams in the top tier
of the multi-multi ranks for the first time since the W3AU and
W4BVV era more than 25 years ago.
Our score was reduced 500K to 1 million points by 100 kph (over 60 mph)
Wind gusts that caused a 45 minute power outage during prime time to
Europe on 20, 15 and 10 meters on Saturday morning followed by an eight
hour internet outage.
CW Skimmer is the latest technology to change the competitive landscape
of the multioperator and assisted categories. This year, the Reverse
Beacon Network was much more important to our multiplier spotting and
QSO generation capabiliites than our local CW Skimmer or the traditional
DX Spotting (AR-Cluster, DX-Spider) network. Excellent second radio
capabilities and antenna isolation, and new operating skills are now
needed on every band to fully exploit the unique competitive advantages
of the RBN.
