Comments:
I never had a lot of interest in this Contest because I figured no one would
have much inertest in a boring K8 call. But, I was surprised during the Phone
Contest that it didn't make much difference. I guess a point is a point.
Condx were mostly lousey. The SFI was about 90 and the A was around 9 and I
wasn't hearing much past the first few EU countries. There were a lot of NA
stations to work, so I thought I'd play for a while. Later on Saturday, the
SFI went up to 101 and things seemed a little better even though the A was
36!!!!. I figured I'd try to hang around and see if I could make 500 Q's.
When I got up on Sunday AM, I hit 500 after a couple hours in spite of the
wacky solar numbers. So, I stuck with it on and off until I had to leave
for a Family Picnic. I even had a few USA runs with the antenna pointed
West on 20 & 15. When we returned from the picnic, my XYL asked if the
Contest was still on. BINGO!! I jumped back on for about 45 minutes until
I heard thunder & lightning approaching & went QRT and yanked the antennas.
It was really a good time and I found that being a boring K8 didn't seem
to be a drawback at all for a S & P station!
